I needed a place to write down weather, ATIS and hold approach charts.  Even thought the approach charts will be available on the computer, I usually print charts from AOPA as a back up in case the aircraft is on emergency power.  I had designed a chart desk for the RV8 that worked perfectly for holding charts.  Using that idea, I designed and fabricated a removable desk.
I purchased a Quick-Clamp universal clipboard from Sporty's Pilot Shop.
Part number 1798A.
Using the computer drawings I had made for the console, I was able to design the clip board installation and check for clearances with the throttle quadrant.  The clip board is angled up 30 degrees.  This would allow for throttle clearance and writing comfort.  The clip board would be inserted into aluminum tubes installed in the consoles arm rest storage compartment.
